    Biography of Zaki Daghistani

    Sheikh Zaki Daghistani, whose full name is Sheikh Mohammed Zaki Bin Omar Daghistani, is a famous reciter from Saudi Arabia, and a great religious scholar. He is the owner of an excellent voice that provides joy to the ear through harmony and grace.

    Sheikh Zaki Daghistani was born in 1925 in the Holy City Mecca, corresponding to the year 1345 by the Muslim moon calendar.

    Unfortunately, by the very early age of one and a half, Sheikh Zaki Daghistani lost complete vision due to a grave infection caused by the smallpox. That was, for no doubt, the most painful moment of his entire life.

    Hence, his strong determination and extreme desire to succeed pushed Sheikh Zaki Daghistani to learn and memorize the Holy book of Allah. He used his hearing senses evidently. Furthermore, he quickly learned the Tajwid of the Holy Quran and recited it in an outstanding manner.

    Due to this acquired knowledge, Sheikh Zaki Daghistani had the chance to display his talent in the year 1363 of Al Hegira, and therefore recited the Holy Quran with Tajwid (Riwayat Hafs de Assim) in a perfect manner in front of great instructors and reciters of the Holy Quran. We cite among them; Sheikh Ahmed Hijazi who reexamined his readings all over again in 1370, when he was only twenty five.

    Being amazed by his impression, Sheikh Ahmed Hijazi decided to give him a license as a proof of capability of reciting magnificently the Holy Quran.

    In the year 1382 of Al Hegira, the honorable Sheikh Zaki Daghistani continued his learning of the book of our Great Allah in Mecca. This happened right before he was designated to be a professor and instructor of the Holy Quran by the ministry of Ma’arif of Saudi Arabia in a regional Quranic School.

    Moreover, the honorable Sheikh Zaki Daghistani became a celebrity in the Muslim-Arab nation. This occurred thanks to his extraordinary style which was very particular to learning and memorizing the Holy Quran. He was also known for his good faith, excellent determination, and perfect devotion to his work that he always wanted to make sure it passes along to the next generations.

    The honorable Sheikh Zaki Daghistani had the privilege of taking part in numerous official manifestations and ceremonies in his native country, Saudi Arabia. He was by the way among the first exceptional reciters of Saudi Arabia.

    Inconveniently, the honorable Sheikh Zaki Daghistani was struck by a severe sickness called Parkinson in 1988, corresponding to the year 1404 of Al Hegira. He totally suffered from long and painful days of sickness until his soul returned to Allah just after making the Friday Prayer on the 9th of July 2004 (First of Joumada 1425 of Al Hegira). The honorable Sheikh Zaki Daghistani was buried in the Mua’lla cemetery by Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
